DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
m/Oppenheim Associates is assisting Equitas Academy Charter Schools in the search for a dynamic and experienced Director of Development. For more information please review the complete Position Description.
Founded in 2009, Equitas Academy is located in the Pico Union district of Los Angeles. It has a budget of approximately $6.5m, 99 teachers and staff, and 860 students at two Elementary and one Middle School. Equitas provides a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to graduate from four-year colleges and universities. The Academies are free public schools for families who believe their children deserve a high-quality education and challenging school experience. The student body is 95% Latino, 3% African American, and 2% Asian; 92% qualify for federally funded free or reduced lunch; and 85% are English Learners. Equitas plans to grow to 5 schools and support 2,000+ students and alumni.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Development will collaborate with department heads, the administrative team, teachers and parents in a start-up like environment. The Director will provide strategic leadership and planning for all development activities including individual giving programs, corporate and foundation relations, major events and in the future, capital campaigns. Equitas seeks a candidate with a start-up mentality, a strong record of individual and major giving and in corporate relations and events, and experience working with a Board and CEO in solicitations.
