Redwood City, CA
Director of Development
m/Oppenheim is assisting Pets In Need in the search for its first Director of Development to create the strategy for proactive, increased and sustained contributed revenue.
For nearly 60 years, Pets In Need (PIN) has provided animals with loving care and lasting homes; partnered with communities striving to do the same; and advanced no-kill policies. Cats and dogs are transferred from public shelters where they are in danger of being euthanized due to space or financial limitations, to PIN facilities in Palo Alto and Redwood City. There they are given all the necessary medical care, are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated by compassionate staff and volunteers working tirelessly to ensure that these prospective pets are healthy, safe and ready for their forever home.
With an annual operating budget of $6M, in fiscal year 2022 PIN received approximately $4.2M from contributed revenue. Donors have shown a strong and sustained philanthropic commitment over the last several years and going forward, PIN is exceptionally well-positioned among donors interested in animal welfare as it competes for major gift funding.
The search for the Director of Development (DoD) is a result of the board’s commitment to invest in resources that elevate leadership and increase PIN’s capacity. As a member of the senior leadership team, the DoD reports to the Executive Director and will have the resources to build a lean but scalable Development and Communications team. The DoD will work closely with the Executive Director and board on strategy and in their fundraising efforts, and bring expertise, best practices and inspiring leadership to PIN. The complete position description can be found here.
