Chief Operating Officer

The COO will manage the MFAH campus, buildings, grounds, gardens, parking and other facilities; electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and in-gallery environmental control systems; traffic flow, security, safety and emergency response infrastructure; and diverse services provided to patrons. The COO must have experience supporting professional teams that orchestrate experiences, providing a kind of invisible connective tissue that gracefully supports all museum activities, personnel and visitors.

The Museum of Fine Arts Houston functions as an integrated visual arts experience centered in one of the nation’s great cities. Counted amongst North America’s largest museums, MFAH has permanent collections spanning more than 6,000 years of history with 64,000 works from six continents. A transformative Campus Redevelopment has been in process since 2012 and is nearing completion, with opening celebrations scheduled at the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. During this time annual attendance reached a high of 1.25 despite significant construction. The COO must have experience supporting professional teams that orchestrate experiences, providing a kind of invisible connective tissue that gracefully supports all museum activities, personnel and visitors.
