Director of Development

Hope is the largest provider of programs for people with developmental disabilities in the Bay Area. Founded more than 60 years ago, it improves the quality of life for more than 3500 individuals and families in six counties in the San Francisco Bay Area. Hope’s vision is to promote a common understanding that the world is a better place when people with disabilities are fully integrated into our community and culture. To that end, Hope provides a broad spectrum of services for individuals of all ages, including early intervention, after-school, day services, mental health, senior services, and supported and independent living services.
The FY18 operating budget is $57M, of which approximately 63% is derived from government funding and 37% from social enterprises, contributed revenue and other sources. Contributed revenue has historically played a very small part of overall revenue. Reporting to the new CEO (he, himself, a skilled relationship builder and fundraiser), the Director will provide leadership, management and coordination for all Hope Services’ individual and institutional fundraising efforts, will create and execute a strategy for driving the acquisition and retention of contributed revenue and for developing and achieving specific fundraising targets. The Director will be a hands-on and deeply involved fundraiser and relationship builder who will take the lead in developing a major gifts pipeline, and will personally engage, solicit and steward individual and institutional funders.
