CHIEF LEARNING OFFICER

Discovery Place seeks a STEM and science education visionary to create and present interactive experiences that inspire love of science and lifelong learning. Reporting to the President & CEO, the CLO leads the institution-wide vision, design and implementation of educational programs and physical experiences, including senior responsibility to ensure that all exhibits, programs, community impact, publications and materials are shaped to optimally convey STEM knowledge to viewers and visitors.
The CLO oversees the Learning Experiences division organized into six operating departments (Public & Community Engagement, STEM/School Programs, Teacher Professional Development, Early Childhood, Exhibitions and Design, and Exhibit Development). In addition to experiences for the general public, the CLO leads the delivery of learning experiences for school audiences to more than 188,000 students through field trips, more than 63,000 through off-site outreach at schools, and professional development for more than 3,000 teachers annually.
Discovery Place is a network of museums that expose children and adults to science through exhibitions, educational programs and community experiences that inform, challenge and attract audiences of all ages. Its mission is to inspire curious thinkers to discover the wonders of science, technology and nature, and the concept of hands-on/minds-on learning is central to the organization’s education approach.
